Patterson Didn't Need Underdog Speech vs. Boise

Normally Gary Patterson plays up the underdog role for his team. It had always worked in the past, but he didn’t have to do that for the Boise State game. The team already knew what they had to do.

Coach Patterson joined Freddie Coleman and Mel Kiper Jr. on ESPN Radio after the Frogs upset of Boise State and said he was going to play the underdog card in his pregame speech, but he could tell by the look on the players faces that they didn’t need it. Patterson told them “if you think you’re the better team then go win it” and left it at that.
