TCU's Tank Carder Receives High Praise From CFN.com

CollegeFootballNews.com has selected TCU linebacker Tank Carder as one of 12 "New Stars You Must Know" for the 2010 season.

Carder was a second-team All-Mountain West Conference selection in his first season as a starter in 2009. His 89 tackles placed second on TCU behind only Daryl Washington (109) and were 19 more than the next-closest Horned Frog (Alex Ibiloye, 70).

Carder was third on TCU with 10 tackles for loss. He had a stop behind the line of scrimmage in eight of 13 games. He topped TCU while tying for second in the MWC with 10 pass breakups.

A junior from Sweeny, Texas, Carder was the Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Week in a 55-28 victory over Utah. He totaled nine tackles, including one for loss, while returning an interception 15 yards for a touchdown. Carder added a pass breakup and quarterback hurry. His performance against the Utes earned him a Helmet Sticker from ESPN's Rece Davis.

Carder closed the regular season with a career-high four tackles for loss as part of a personal-best 10 stops in a 51-10 win over New Mexico. He totaled eight tackles in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl as well as the 38-7 victory at BYU.

What Does TCU Football and Swimming Have in Common?

Trust me, I’m not going to make a habit of posting swimming related articles on this blog, but I had to post about this. This picture of a TCU swimmer was posted on GoFrogs.com. The thing I found interesting was the swimmers cap. It has the Horned Frog bloodlines on it like the TCU Nike Pro Combat football uniform the team wore against Utah and Boise State last season.

I think it looks about as cool as you can make a swimmers cap look. I also like the fact that another TCU sports team has incorporated the bloodlines into their uniform.

I know a lot of TCU purist don’t like the red and argue that it’s not part of the school colors. I on the other hand disagree. I think it looks great and draws attention to TCU’s unique mascot. Black and Silver aren’t TCU’s school colors either, but both have been used for uniforms previously.

I would like to see the bloodlines incorporated in more things, but that’s just my opinion.

Andy Dalton is Nation's Win Leader Among QB's

TCU's Andy Dalton is the nation's leader among active quarterbacks with 29 career victories as a starter.

A rising senior from Katy, Texas, Dalton is tied with Slingin' Sammy Baugh (1934-36) for the most career wins by a Horned Frog signal caller.

Dalton was the 2009 Mountain West Conference Offensive Player of the Year and received All-America honors as he led TCU to a 12-1 record, No. 6 ranking and its first BCS appearance. He was also one of 10 finalists for the Manning Award, recognizing the nation's top quarterback.

Dalton ranked eighth in the nation in passing efficiency with a 151.8 rating. Among active quarterbacks, he ranks third in lowest interception percentage (2.4, 24 picks in 1,001 attempts).

Dalton set a single-season TCU record in 2009 with 2,756 yards passing, while his 61.6 completion percentage and 23 touchdown passes placed second. Dalton is the Horned Frogs' all-time leader in passing yards with 7,457. His 603 completions, 44 touchdown passes and 60.2 completion percentage rank second.

A two-time bowl game Most Valuable Player, Dalton ranked fourth on TCU last season with 512 yards rushing on a 4.4 per carry average. He has 1,176 career yards on the ground.

Dalton will graduate in the fall with a degree in marketing.

New Drawings of Amon G. Carter Stadium Released

Thanks to KillerFrogs.com, new drawings of the Amon G. Carter Stadium renovation plans have been released to the public. When I first saw these pictures I was in total amazement! Once this project is finished, this stadium is going to be absolutely beautiful.

Here is what I think I know, if someone reading this knows more feel free to leave a comment to correct me…

TCU has raised a significant amount of money for the stadium renovation but are still looking for more monetary donations before breaking ground. The plan is to start construction at the end of the 2010 football season and do the renovations in two phases. The west side and north end zone are schedule to be completed in phase one, and phase two will take place after the 2011 football season completing the east side. Once everything is complete, Amon G. Carter Stadium should hold around 40,000 people with the ability to easily expand to 50,000 if needed at a future time.

There are a lot of other features you can see from the pictures like the placement of the video board and things like that. Take a look, and I hope enjoy them as much as I did. If all of this falls in place like it looks that it will, “The Carter” will be a very loud and intimidating place to play.

Thanks again to Wes at KillerFrogs.com for posting these outstanding pictures.
