Jason Kidd First Ever Active Hall of Famer?

Jason Terry thinks so.

When I asked JET after shoot around this morning about the play of Jason Kidd as of late, Terry responded “He is a Hall of Famer. I keep saying it. They should just put him in now. Shouldn’t be a first or second or third ballot. First active player to ever be in the Hall of Fame. Why not?”

I agree, why not? If there ever was a perfect example of a sure thing for the Hall of Fame, Jason Kidd fits the mold. Kidd will definitely be a first ballot hall of famer when the time comes, until then, I just hope he continues to do what he has been doing, because it is fun to watch.

Jason Kidd vs. Mike Woodson

Jason Kidd was absolutely AMAZING on Friday night versus the Hawks. Kidd finished the game with 19 points, 17 assists, and 16 rebounds, good enough for his 104th career triple-double. The crafty veteran willed the Mavs to victory by dominating the 4th quarter and overtime, and picking up an unusual foul.

Here is the video of Mavs PG Jason Kidd running into Hawks Coach Mike Woodson.

Now, some say this was a dirty play, but I think most people would agree that it was just a very slick move by a smart, veteran, basketball player. At least that is how I see it. You can’t fault Kidd for trying to make something happen. The coach isn’t allowed to be on the court and Kidd made sure the referees saw that.

I think you could argue that Jason Kidd has benefitted from the trade better than any other Maverick. The guy is balling out of control right now and I love it.

Manny Ramirez is Endorsing What?

From RealGM.com

Manny Ramirez is endorsing an energy drink named "Sum Poosie," according to Dylan Hernandez from the Los Angeles Times.

I think this is hilarious and just another example of “Manny being Manny.”

TCU and Oregon State Being Finalized

I have posted about this a couple of times before, but it looks like the TCU/Oregon State game at Cowboys Stadium will be finalized later this week.

TCU Daily Skiff

The Horned Frogs will play the Oregon State Beavers at Cowboys Stadium on Sept. 4 during their 2010 football season, a university official said.

Jack Hesselbrock, associate athletic director for football, said university officials met with Oregon State and Dallas officials Monday. Oregon State has already signed its contract, and TCU is currently reviewing its contract with the university's legal council, he said. The contract will address issues such as ticket allocation and expected attendance. Hesselbrock said the contract would be signed within the next couple of days.

I’m glad they were able to get this done. This will be a great way for the Frogs to start out the season against a solid opponent on national television. Oregon State has a good chance of starting out the season in the pre-season top 25, and that would help TCU’s schedule tremendously.

Mavs Sign Von Wafer to 10 Day Deal

The Dallas Mavericks announced today they have signed guard Von Wafer to a 10-day contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Wafer (6-5, 210) joins the Mavericks after spending the 2008-09 season with Houston. He averaged 9.7 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 19.4 minutes in 63 games (11 starts) with the Rockets.

The five-year NBA veteran, who was a second round selection (39th overall) of the Los Angeles Lakers, owns career marks of 6.2 points, 1.3 rebounds and 13.3 minutes in 109 games (11 starts) with the Lakers, L.A. Clippers, Denver, Portland and Houston. He has also played in the D-League and internationally in Greece.

A native of Homer, La., Wafer was an early-entry candidate in the 2005 NBA Draft after averaging 12.5 points and 2.5 rebounds as a sophomore at Florida State. Wafer earned McDonald’s High School All-America honors as a senior at Heritage Christian Academy (Cleveland, Texas) where he led the Eagles with averages of 26.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.0 steals and 4.0 blocks.

The Mavericks roster stands at 14 players.
